Update on Carmen Monarcha

Update on Carmen Monarcha

Carmen Monarcha and her Mother are appearing on the same playbill.

The Symphonic Orchestra of the Theatre of the Peace opened it's 2006 season on March 9th with the presentation of the workmanship ' Forest of Amazon ', Heitor Villa-Lobos, in the Theatre of the Peace. The spectacle, that starts today, the 20th, will have the participation of the soprano Carmen Monarcha and a choir of 40 voices, under the regency of the São Paulo teacher Mateus Araujo.

The year of 2006 is one year special for the OSTP. The complete orchestra was created 10 years ago * Competition of I sing Lyric Bidu Sayão, Festival of Opera of the Theatre of the Peace, Pan-Amazonian, Belém Brazil.

The program was chosen especially for the occasion. It will be executed in first integral hearing, in Belém, the workmanship ' Forest of Amazon ', last great part composed symphonic-chorale for Villa-Lobos, and that it was also its last register in record, when had under its baton, as soloist, the great Brazilian soprano
Bidu Sayão
.

In the presentation, the orchestra will have 60 musicians, including a harp, viola and saxophone. The participation specials are sopranos
Carmen Monarcha and Coro Marina Monarcha
, prepared by Vanildo Hunter. The workmanship, with about one hour of duration, translates in skillful way the largeness and the sounds of our Amazonian forest. The ingressions for the concert will be distributed in the day of the spectacle, from 9h, in the ticket office of the Theatre of the Peace

Carmen sings again on Sunday May 14th 2006 at 16.30, but now (Mozart) in Teatro Municipal Sao Paulo.

I, too, am interested in info as it pertains to Carmen's career after Andre Rieu.

I'm hoping she will be asked & be able to participate in Andre's concert in NY at Radio City Music Hall in July!

I was at the Dallas concert last night, April 24th. Andre Rieu's offered a superb performance to all of us. But I am sure we all missed Carmen. The singing was not the same, and in spite of three additional tenors, and another female singer, the absence of Carmen's voice was felt all over the Nokia Theatre.
If you have any information concerning her reasons for leaving the Orchestra, please share with me. I will appreaciate your help.

      Hi Dr Joseph Barboza,

It was reported/rumored that Carmen originally left to follow her heart, with a boyfriend in Toronto.  The most recent sightings/news/rumors is that she is in Brazil with Opera asperations.

I thought she was conspicious by her absence last December when I attend the concert in Phoenix, AZ.

On the plus side, I think The 3 Tenors, are a grrrrrreat addition to the orchestra.

So THAT's where the lovely Carmen is. As a new person to this site and a Rieu fan - I had been looking for the reason why she was absent at the Orlando concert I attended. We missed her so much! But alas, as I have read here - she is doing as beautiful, young girls are to do ... follow her heart and her love. All songbirds must up and fly away at one point or another.

I agree!  And you know what?  These same sentiments would appear if Carla left.   Both Carmen & Carla are rare, entertaining & delightful talents.

Was Orlando your first Andre Concert?
