The Wooden Clogs
Remember the wooden clogs the women wore in the Clog Dance routine. I wonder:
if the girls wore socks on their feet?
if the shoes were custom fit for each person?
what happened to the shoes now that they're not being worn?
how many of the girls got blisters?
if any of the girls got through the season without any blisters
were the shoes hand made or machine made?
if the girls ever got Andre into a pair of the wooden clogs?
if any of the guys tried on any of the clogs?
if any of the guys danced in the clogs?
Just thinking out loud!

I have seen pictures of Andre in clogs, but here's a website you could check out for information: http://www.woody2shoes.com my friend went to the Netherlands last year and bought back a pair and watched them being made.I tried them on and they are quite comfortable.
Woody 2 Shoes bwaaahhhaahahahahaa good humor in their name.
yeah, isn't the name a riot?
I like to see you Shirley in wooden shoes! I would like a pair for myself. I know for a fact I could not dance csardas in it, but i woul learn the clogdance with you. I have the DVD also and enjoy watching it too. I would have no problem getting a yellow pair!? Kati
thanks Shirley,
It's info like you've just provided that makes this website soooo interesting.

You know Shirley why I like you a lot? You seem to have a good answer for everything. All those info you sharing with us, no wonder soon we will be geniuses. I liked the ide very much to bring up the clogs as a subject for us so we can learn more of Holland. Kati
Thanks for the Wooden Shoe link, SHIRLEY
I just ordered a pair

a little trivia about clogs:
Traditional clogs were made out of willow or poplar wood and are associated with the Netherlands and Sweden as part of the touristic "Holland"/Swedish image, where they are seen as a form of national dress. Because of this, Dutch people are sometimes called cloggies, that is, clog-wearers. In Dutch, clogs are known as klompen. In the Netherlands, the traditional all-wooden clogs are still widely in use as working shoes in farming and gardening. They have been officially labelled as safety shoes, passing European standards for the CE mark with flying colours. Today, Dutch clogs are available in many tourist shops. Wearing clogs is considered to be healthy for the feet.
Hi Everyone. What a great topic and something to ponder.
(I'm also laughing at the evil some people have in their hearts. They have to click "dislike" on something so fun. As if we give a care)
Now you have me thinking about clogs. I've owned many pair of them, none wooden. I would like to have a pair and even perhaps a pair of specially painted, 'dress clogs'!

Andre in Clogs?
Sally could you send me this picture of the JSO Thanks Kati
I'm with you Sally! as for this article on clogs, these days I'm interested in anything to do with Holland, especially the Netherlands!(wonder why?). Remember the picture of Monique and Thea in the giant yellow clogs?
Hi Shirley: I enjoy that photo of Monique and Thea. They seem to have fun where ever they are!
These are the ones! This is what I like best. Could you get me a pair? Kati
Wouldn't it be neat to wear clogs to next concert and do line dance?
Very interesting question Marlene. You're speculating about the fun of a clog dance from concert attendees brings up a thought somewhat similar to one I had over the weekend.
At the concert in NY, I'm wondering if Andre will include something very American, A Square Dance! Surely he could enlist some professional Square dance team to dance to his music & follow the instructions from an American Square Dance Caller.
Andre displays a wonderful & versitile array of music however none of his DVD's currently include a Square Dance. Come July 2006 I guess we'll all know one way or the other; wouldn't it be a surprise if the concert does include a Square Dance & the JSO playing Square Dance music in time with the caller.
A Virginia Reel is another strictly American dance & music.
you don't suppose......

I like the idea to show up in clogs at one of His concerts, like the real
fans. I am sure He would smile of us. I like to learn the clogdance myself. Let us work on it. Kati
Sally, I like this idea the best, to get together for any reason at all. We always can come up with a name?!Lets work on something OK/ We check the schedule and we will see. I love the largest wooden clogs. It is so much Holland, I never been there. I will be one day. I just have to see Maastricht!Kati
Hey Shirley & Marlene: Yup and Yup! It would be so fun to wear clogs and dance to the sounds of Andre Rieu and his JSO. We have got to do this!!
Sally, You will not do this dance without me! I love the idea so much, that somehow I would have to be part of it. You Fans amaze me, always come up with a neat idea.Kati
Hi girls,
I'd like to see you doing a clog dance during one of the American concerts!
And Sally, when visiting the Keukenhof with Anne and Erik Buch I saw a nice pair of high heeled clogs for you! Exactly the "dress-clogs" you were looking for! Maybe you can put the picture here in the blog.
Ineke.
WebmasterSally
the photos are appearing. The dress clogs, I'm sure, are the latest fashion trend in Holland
I am part of this gang, with the high heel clogs? I do not think they would be good to dance the clog dance or the csardas at all. We all would have spraine ancles. Kati
Ankles that is, missplelled, but you all know what i mean. Lookes like these clogs getting bigger and bigger. Do you have a larger size yet someplace? How about automatic, easy to drive?! Kati
To my computer the photos are not (yet?) appearing.
Yes, I can see the pictures now! Did you know that famers used to wear first socks, than soft leather inside slippers, and than the clogs? That was more comfortable to walk, but also very usefull, for they kicked out the clogs before going into the house and walked there on the slippers. In a German TV show with Karl Moik (talk host), Andre wanted Karl to join them for a clog dance. At the end of the dance we saw Andre kick out the clogs and also put out the inside slippers, so he was wearing them as well, to protect his feet. For wooden shoes can hurt!! What do you think of the "Sunday-clogs" with boot laces? Or the ice skating clogs at the other side of the high heels? The Keukenhof clogmaker was joking! It is Anne Buch and me in the big clog and Anne's dog Emma before.
Thank you Ineke.I didn't know about the soft leather slippers inside the clogs.I think I like the plain clogs best,
