The ARIA DVD for 2007 might as well be named the Andre Rieu Chart. Rieu had 50% of the Top 10 and an amazing 14 titles in the Top at year's end.
Rieu was the star of the Australian charts in 2007, despite not being a pop star, a rock star or a rapper. He commercial airplay was almost zero.
The Dutch maestro made his name playing classic music. He attracts a young adult audience and they like to get up and dance at his gigs.
Rieu's biggest title for '07 was 'At Schonbrunn Vienna'. It was number 3.
His other Top 10 titles were:
5. New York Memories
7. Songs From My Heart
9. Live In Dublin
10. The Flying Dutchman
The shared the Top 10 with Pink, Justin Timberlake, AC/DC and the Bee Gees.
Then came:
12. In Wonderland
14. Christmas Around The World
17. Live At Royal Albert Hall
21. On Holiday
24. Dreaming
25. Love Around The World
30. Romance
31. Romantic Paradise
40. La Vie Est Belle

Our Hero is unstoppable !
Thanks for the information Bill. Instead of checking multiple sites, I can look here for so much information.
*Congrats to André Rieu. His music is still on top of the charts!
King of the Waltz - Indeed!

November can't come quick enough,
Happy New Year, Love Toni
This really makes me happy. Great numbers for our incredible Maestro!
we are both very proud of andre.thanks for all info.looking forward to sydney concert 08.regards,nicolejoy and joe.
To me this is really phenomenal, how Andre captured the hearts of the Australian people, almost like a wildfire spreading across the land. As always I'm curious about what really triggered this absolute obsession with Andre in the "land down under". I'd really like to hear, from anyone, what makes Andre special to you. This music has been around for years, so as I've asked before, is it the music or the man? Would be interested to hear the aussie points of view.
THE MAN - now be honest ladies!!!!!!!!!!
You want honesty!! I love the music but what would it be without the man - this man. I have tried to envision everyone I could playing that violin, with those expressions, those eyes, that smile, that energy, that charisma, that talent, that face and can come up with noone! He is the music in my life! Hugs to all
I did this in "My Space" page.
I agree 200% with you.
Like someone wrote on my blog the other day " " The Beauty of the Music is matched only by the Charm of the Man "
Marie
P.S. Love that guy!
I don't think you can separate the man from the music...he is a total package. And what a package!! His presence on stage is simply spellbinding and the music of the orchestra is incredible. I've always enjoyed listening to classical music, especially Stauss waltzes, but I never felt music that deep inside me until his concert last month. It has given me back the joy and excitement of a child.
Shirley, I can only speak for my husband and myself. Like many others before us, one night in October last, my husband was surfing through the TV channels when he stumbled onto André Rieu At Schönbrunn, Vienna on Ovation channel. He called to me to come and see this marvelous show and since then we have been hooked on anything and everything to do with Andre. We are both lovers of good music and especially of Strauss. My husband had been a fan of Richard Tauber and his contempories for many years and some years ago when he suffered from migraines found a darkened room and Strauss playing in the background eased his pain. Andre has renewed our love of this music and the refreshing way he presents it makes it all the more enjoyable. We have noticed in our neck of the woods our local orchestras are trying to emulate the type of presentation given by the JSO with some success. When an entertainer is obviously enjoying his or her performance it grabs the audience with the same fervour. And then there is Andre himself! What more can I say! Doesn't everyone love him? He is a very special man and you would have to be a very cold fish to not get involved in one of his concerts. We are doing our best to spread the word about Andre and the JSO to all our friends and acquaintances and I am sure many others are doing the same.
Thank you Lyn. I love the Strauss music myself. I do remember hearing Richard Tauber sing, he was so calming to listen to. I think you are onto something when you say "when an entertainer enjoys what they do". It obviously hits a chord with people. Like Andre says,"from my heart to yours". It's a heart connection,a feeling of oneness. You can tell when a performer sings or plays from the heart.Well, from what I see and hear, you all are doing a fantastic job of "spreading the word"! I hope you are going to one of the concerts.
Yes, Shirley. I went on-line to purchase our tickets from Ticketek immediately sales opened for the Brisbane concert. My husband was amused because I was shaking with excitement when I got through, so much so that I was worried that I would make a mistake and the site would drop me out before I had finished typing all the details in.
haha, I can identify with that. When I first found out that Andre was coming to the states, I knew I must go to a concert if I had to crawl on my hands and knees, over broken glass, to get there. that's how bad I wanted to see a concert. The first concert date that showed up was 8 miles away, and being a novice at everything, I thought it might be the only one, so I hurried up and applied for the tickets. Later I found out that he made a tour over several cities and the closest one would be about 2 hrs away. Well as it turned out, I went to that one too, plus 2 more, all in one week. But see, being a novice, I thought sure it would be a once in a lifetime chance. I didn't know he came back each year, or at least every other year. I'll tell one thing, I was pretty broke the rest of the year but I was happy!!
i suffer from multiple chemical allergies also other ailments, for 15 years, since we discovered andres music on ovation feb last year, his music has been a godsent to me,it helps people go through problems and physical difficulties .makes the world a better place.
Nicole Joy, just your name is uplifting to me. What a beautiful name. You are right about the music. Andre certainly plays the kind of music that uplifts us all. They say "music soothes the savage breast" and I think it's true. I think Andre plays the music that appeals to a vast majority of people, and going to one of his concerts is like going to a party.Whether it be the music or the man, I think, for me personally, it's the total package, the orchestra and Andre too.He has some of the most beautiful and talented young people working for him. It's an unbeatable presentation of beautiful music.
Hi Nicole,
I love your name too. Isn't it wonderful what Andre's music can do to help people! He not only helps those who suffer from physical ailments but also emotional. His JSO is so multi talented that it is almost unbelievable. Hugs to you
