Hope you all like "my" Lilies of the Valley, which are also called in German: Little May Bells. The first of May is an Observed Holiday in Europe.

I have always loved Lilly of the Valley. They look like happy delicate bells that chime with the breeze.
This picture reminds me of another little flower of May. We used to walking in the woods just to see the little may apples. Do you remember them? They looked like little umbrellas & had one little white blossom. I think they are so named because the flower changes into a little apple looking fruit later in the summer. It's supposed to be edible but we were always afraid to eat them because a lot of the plant is poisonous.
I know , Shirley , the one you talk about, in Germany they bloom earlier, they are called "Märzenbecher", literary translated:" March cup", they look a little like the snow bells, every spring flower is so nice after the long winter, all spring flowers have onions as roots and are somewhere poisonous. My Moise likes to eat grass and he goes this year after the crocus leaves, I have to watch it, that could kill him with his kidney problems.

The first of May is actually the Labor day of Germany and most European countries. As children we made a May tour left at around 5.OO in the morning and hiked with friends, brought home "the Maien" a bush of greenery from the forest and we ended in a restaurant garden, at work we had mostly a May ball.
Happy first May to all the "Ventilators"!!!!!
I recall making May Poles in school as a child. We would make colored ribbons to tie around the May Pole as we danced. And...flower baskets.
Do children today still observe these customs?
Sally, in Bavaria all Cities and villages have a May-tree, it is a huge pole in the Bavarian colors white and blue and with ribbons and they dance the May-dance around it. It is in my daughter´s school put up from the students and they do play jokes on other schools and steel theirs and hide it.
Nice custom , Shirley, washing your face in May dew, I like to walk bar feet in it.
I would love to personally see the Colors of it all. To see it in person. I hope one day I will be able to see this all.

purchased in Munich (Bavaria) of a porcelain duck. It was done in the colors of white and blue. So now I know why blue and white is important.

Washing the face with May dew is yet another custom. There used to a belief among the women in Great Britain and other parts of Europe that May Day dew had the power to restore beauty. This is why in the Ozark Mountains, girls used to nurture a belief that having their faces washed with the early dawn dews on the May Day would help to be married to the man of her choice.I don't know as I've never tried it.

Happy May to everyone! Hermina, thank you for the beautiful Lily of the Valley picture. These beautiful little fragrant flowers always remind me of my grandmother. She always wore Lily of the Valley perfume, and whenever I smell them, I'm reminded of her. Aren't they fantastic?
April came and went like a blur.
I can now say that 'next month' I will be seeing André! Hooray!

I love the picture of the Lilies of the Valley but the picture of my dear Andre baffles me! Don't tell him I said so , but he does look like a grumpy old man. What was the occasion?
Anne, I noticed it, too, but he is going on 6O and age does not pass him by, he belongs to the human race, not to the gang from Mount Olympus, haaaaaaaa!
I don't see him at all as "like a grumpy old man"...OMG...I see this picture as one that we've seen many times, when he's listening while a beautiful song is being played...such as "Song of the Volga". This is one of my favorite "looks" that André has...very touching, very impressive.

Sandy and I are going to attend the concert in Baltimore on the 14th. We will be in the night before and I am wondering if there are any fan events going on either night. My older brother, Jim, his partner, Lou Jones and my younger brother, Mike (all from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands), will also attend. I introduced them to Andre with DVD's and they have spread the word to their friends in St. Thomas. Mike is blind and autistic, but has a love of music and plays classical piano. He is really looking forward to hearing Andre's music.
The last concert we attended was in Toronto and we enjoyed meeting other fans as well as webmaster Sally and moderator, Jeanine Ann. We hope to see some of you again! Please let me hear from you

I agree with you Prudence, thanks to Dorothy for her report, wish I had known you were in Reading, I would have loved to meet you. Thank you Jane and thank you Ester for your great article about you and Frank. Everything was wonderful to read. A big thank you to Sally for all the hard work that went into these great reports and thanks too for putting my photos on. Big hugs
You know I have relived this night over and over again and thought of so many things I should have done. I saw all these wonderful people and didn't get many photos. I thought I should have had some photos taken with the JSO, they were all around us, we talked with them at length. I should have taken a photo of Bela's cute dinosaur, we could have had our photo taken with Mirusia and Frank and Tomas and many others. I think when these events happen you are in a kind of trance or in shock. I know I was. Everything was happening so fast. Even Clyde agreed, he was so shocked that all these wonderful things were happening one after another. Of course anytime I get anywhere around Andre I lose track of my senses and forget what I want to do. I thought I must be in heaven because I almost could not believe what I was seeing and feeling. I mean, what do you do when you see Andre walking toward you ready to shake your hand?? Like I said I just stopped dead in my tracks. All I knew was I am not leaving this spot right now. (I was headed for something to eat). Clyde is so good at all this, he took advantage fully of the wonderful food. Kerstin said to me "you are being very modest" but she does not know that I completely lose my appetite under certain conditions : ) But I am just so happy for Clyde because he does love to eat good food and he was having a ball. Kerstin was telling us about the food and that it is all local food and they have what they call "runners" who go out and shop and then it is prepared by their chefs (three I believe). It is served cafeteria style and there was so much of it. The desserts looked wonderful but I missed those too. But I cannot say how wonderful the evening was and I wish I could thank them again for being so nice to all of us. They made us feel very special and I will never forget it. I honestly wish that every one of you could experience this and hopefully one day you will. Hugs
What do you do when you see André walking toward you ready to shake your hand? Well, I guess we never know that until the moment occurs, however, I would hope that I would be "normal" in every way.
I know that we all would hope that we looked and acted perfectly.
I'm so happy that you and Clyde had such a wonderful time Jeanine Ann. I know that you waited for this moment for a long time, but also, we, your friends, wanted this for you too! You certainly deserved this moment. Thanks again for you wonderful report of your concert experience.

It seems that Andre is planning to release a DvD of behind the scenes of the Australian Tour 2008. That will be an interesting doco, I think. I don't have any release dates or further info as yet.
Hi Judith, thank you for all your nice words. I must say it was paradise and I never wanted to leave. Can you imagine trying to eat in the same room with Andre at one of the tables!! Impossible for me. You should have seen the contrast with me and Clyde, it was so funny - he is sitting there eating and saying how wonderful the food is and saying "going back for more dessert" and I am just sitting there picking at a piece of beef! It is funny now that I think back. I am staring at Andre and everyone was wondering why I was not eating! : )

PS: I am just 5 feet tall, Clyde is 6 feet and you can see Andre even towered over him. He looks so big when you see if off of the stage. I mean I had seen him in Toronto but when you get someone small like me and then a 6 foot man beside Andre you can see the difference. I always thought he was 6' 1"

Almost forgot the one thing that I really "fell" for. The resolution was not good enough when Sally was putting the photos on but I thought I would try just putting it on the blog.

When I was in Siegen Germany in an open air concert in 2003 , Jo took the Polaroid pictures and threw them in the audience. I never got up to get one, some were taring them out of each other´s hands. I just stayed on my seat and watched it, that was fun, too.
Well Inge I was so determined to get that photo that I didn't think that I could broken my tail bone if I had landed differently. What we women will not do for something with Andre fingerprints on it!

Bill, OTTO is mostly known as the "Blödelbarde" from Hamburg on German TV, I do not think many know his last name, he is just Otto. I knew it once, but forgot, he is sooooooooo funny.
Inge, I don't know all that much about Otto, I think I only saw him once, and then I wasn't too crazy about him, but to be fair to him, I'd have to take your word for it. I really liked DJ Otzi much better. Of course they are completely different people. I just came in to see what was happining here with all the "ventilators".
Yes Shirley, the sun was shining here all last week and tomorrow we are suppose to get some rain, but I have to go and get some plants to fill in the empty holes in my garden.
Otto is a one of a kind, completely different than other comedians, but if you do not understand the Frisish language or his Platt German it is less interesting. I do not know if you know the Wolf and the Raven that he did with André, it is a children´s story and he made it into a real funny joke. DJ Ötzi I do not care for at all.

Blödelbarde is one of those words you cannot translate literally, blöd means stupid, foolish, silly and barde is a minstrel, so loosely translated it means : foolish minstrel, he sings his jokes, haaaaaaaaa!

Hi Kirsten, I listened to it as it was on, and again on the web ... I think Andre said he loves Perth and would like to play there, but there is no Hall right now, but they are building a Hall and Andre says they will Open the Hall.
Sounds like he will be there, just not this time around.

Jeanine I know what you mean, when I learned the accordion, I started with 9 with a grumpy old man of 82, he hit my fingers with his pencil every time they were not positioned the way he wanted it to, then I left him and went in a club. The teacher was a good looking man, but he had the thing, he moved always behind the girls and I was like André holds that woman and I felt very uncomfortable, as soon as he came around I played everything wrong, but when he left I was o.k. I later left the club and played just on my own and by ear.
Inge, my teacher is about 29 and so nice and jolly. She is always talking and laughing and I sometimes miss a little of my lesson but if it goes too long she lets me come in 15 minutes early the next week. Yesterday was one of her talking days so next week I get 15 extra minutes. But I like her, that is better than a grumpy old man but not as nice as Andre!

Shirley , I was wondering that, too. Carla is the most talented voice he had ever on his orchestra, she has one voice that is very rare, no Miruchia, Carmen or Suzan come even close to it, I guess the songs Miruchia sings are more popular in USA than that difficult area from tales of Hoffmann , the doll Olympia, she got awards for it in Munich. I love her voice and her spirit, she is a fire cracker on the stage, her stage present is also very special.
And she is super friendly also Inge. I talked with her like I have known her all my life but then I also did with Mirusia who is also very friendly. I think they all sing so beautiful in their own way. Carmen has a warmer, deeper tone to her voice - like Andre often said "a cathedral".

It's very nice to have Andre in Australia again.
He's been busy the last few days with lots of television and radio interviews - charming the sox off everyone, turning up around Sydney and making himself accessible for people to meet him.
I'm writing this during an ad break in one of our morning TV shows which is featuring him this morning. He's just played "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" and there were lots of teenagers in the people gathering to watch, which is nice to see (he's in a glassed in area of the TV station and people can look in from outside).
He's coming back to perform with Mirusia in a minute, so I'd better go or I'll miss it.
Andre did some cooking last week on the Today show in Australia but I missed it. Does anyone know if is on the internet? I'll really appreciate your advice.
you know when i see the aussie fans and myself we all adore andre so much, then i deal with people who never heard of him. in my area, i have alot of work to do. iam so happy for andre and very proud of him.

Thought you all might like to know Andre had an adventure in Sydney a couple of days ago. He was appearing at a shopping centre to sign CDs etc. About 4000 people turned up and some men dressed up as older women to try and get near him. (The reason is unknown) Anyway, security stopped them before they did and now there is a lot
more security protecting him apparently.
I wonder what Andre thinks about it.
I hope he's enjoying himself here. He looks happy and relaxed. He's certainly making a lot of people happy just by being here and is getting a lot of media coverage.
I can't wait for the concert in October. I'll be able to start counting the days soon.

I recall last time there was a woman who tried to get too close, they think she was trying to kiss him. The bodyguards had to shoo her away. I later read where she had written online that she was "roughed up". (what did she expect????)
I think for all the thousands of people who went to see Andre, 99.99% were great troupers to have to wait so long. I am happy they got their signature and CD.
Hi Sally, thousands of people went to Eastland to see Andre Rieu appear in person with Mariusa, yesterday Saturday 9th May 2007.He was 1/2 an hour late but the wait was worth it, as I was their got their at 10am and my 3 1/2 hour waiting was nothing compared to , some people were their from 6.30am.
Andre was to perform 3 numbers, but instead only 1 solo, and 1 duo with Mariusa.
Then it was the mammoth task off signing autographs,no one missed out.
It was a delight seeing our senior citizen, with so much joy and pride on their faces, when they see Andre.
This time his son Pierre was their as well as Johan, the Violin carrier and two other personnal assistants. Yes Sally i was able to get close to Andre, and then Johan came up to me and said "i think you have enough photos this time" i was only taking them for you Andre Rieu fans that couldn't be their.I would like to share my photo's with you. and once again Thanks Andre, and also to you Johan.

Our group of 11 attended Andre Rieu's concert in Perth last year. I was spellbound with his music and his orchestra. For Mother's day I got the 100 beautiful melodies on CD and have not stopped listening to the selection and also his book. Please please do not be like some other celeb who left their wives once they turned famous. Majorie has sacrificed so much for Andre and am praying everyday that their love will conquer all other desires which are ever present around Andre. I love him to bits and would love to attend his concerts if he ever comes to Perth again even though we do not have a bigger stadium than our Subiaco football stadium.
Little Johann Strauss who will be a year old this month spent an hour at the top of a huge old Elm tree yesterday before finally being coaxed down. (I understand that the fire department no longer responds to calls for animals in trees so glad we finally got him down). Then, as a thank you, for Mother's Day he brought me his first bird. I hate that but it probably will happen if they go outside. I'd rather not see it, know about it, but he brought it to me. Strutted around the house for awhile before I could get it away from him and properly dispose of it. I know it's nature but doesn't make me feel any better (but he sure was proud).
Johann wanted to bring his trophy home to his Mama.
I had a cat named Wilma ... as in Fred & Wilma. She was a hunter. I always felt bad about the birds, but I had to have a talk with her when she brought home a snake and laid it on the front porch. Imagine how I woke up the neighbors with my screen when I opened the door to get the newspaper at 6am. I didn't need coffee that day.
Sally, I only read about your experience with the snake, after I wrote about Jutta´s yesterday, haaaaa, I know those snakes in Germany, they are harmless, but she might have survived the ordeal, haaaaaaaa!
Virginia, my daughter Jutta phoned me yesterday from Munich for mother´s day and while she was on the phone, her little kitten, of one year (April 28) brought her proudly a snake in the house. It was still alive and not a poisonous one, so Jutta excused herself and run outside to save the snake. Cats are cats, I do not want to see it either mine go only outside with us in the front yard and when we go inside, they come with us. Montréal is too dangerous to let them outside, they do not mind, they are the boss of the hole house and us.
I'm intrigued Inge. Why is Montreal dangerous for cats?
Jill, it takes a little to explain that, in Montréal every year on Canada Day, the first of July, people move by the thousands and leave their pets, mostly cats behind, some survive on the streets for a while, others are collected by monsters who give them to research where they are tortured, every year the SPCA is overfilled with thousands of cats and dogs. My 5 cats were all strays I rescued from the streets, so I call that a danger, also the cars drive like nuts and kill also some of the animals.
Here people dump there animals in the valley, as if they can hunt and provide for themselves. They can't. They are pets. I wish those people would be dumped somewhere and left to provide from themselves. See what they think then. My blacklab was part of a litter of puppies that had been dropped in the valley. For Shame.
Well, off my soapbox and back to work.
I know that has nothing to do with being an André "ventilator", but I wished they would pass some laws for protecting those poor animals, starting by closing all the pet shops. People buy pets for their kids because they look cute, but never want to take the responsibility caring for them for 15 to 2O years, the kids loose interest fast and have to be taught, it is stupid to make pets as a gift to a family who does not even want them. They all land on the street or on a dump or in a laboratory or SPCA. People who abandon pets should be punished.

I have so much to say on this subject that it would take a long time to say it all.
I've rescued 4 out of five of my dogs, and they were ALL the best dogs anyone could ever ask for. I've sort of rescued a kitty, who would probably be a feral cat if I hadn't rescued her.
I used to live in Las Vegas and people would take their dogs out into the desert and drop them off. Imagine that? You are all right...animal abusers and those who abandon pets to fend for themselves should be dealt with severely.
I just told someone yesterday that animals are NOT Disposable! You can't just throw them out when you are finished with them.

All of my cats have been strays. And they all have been wonderful. I signed up to start volunteering at Friends of Feral Felines -- it's safer than volunteering at a shelter where I'd end up bringing them home. My cat Delilah (now deceased) lived on the streets of NYC. She had kittens on the ice under a car. Someone took her to the vet who saved her and two kittens. He talked me into taking her once she was ready to leave the hospital. She lived in the closet literally for a month. Came out at night to eat and use the litter box. One morning after about a month I woke up and found her on the foot of the bed with the other cats. She was always timid and didn't want to be picked up but she loved to be brushed at petted and absolutely loved people food. She died at age 13 but she had had a hard life for her first few years.
I swore that I would only take strays after that.
What a heartwarming story. It is unthinkable what she went through at first. Such a hard life. I love it when she was able to be brave and trust you with herself and precious kittens.
Virginia you are such a good person to take care of those strays. I would never go to a pet store anymore. That is where we got Honi but that was before we were so aware of all the stray kitties and doggies. Cotton came from a shelter in Fort Myers and Patches was found by Bob and Judy under their house and they sent her photo to us and that was it. They lived about 2 hours from us in Florida and we went up to their house and brought her home.
Poor Micetro is back in the bathroom again. She is so frightened again so we will have to start over again but she had to be spayed. She was in heat and was urinating on the carpet. She went through so much since we brought her in with the kittens and now the surgery and she was just getting to know us. But she will be much better off now. She is eating so that is a good sign. She always did love her food.
Virginia, there is a special place in Heaven for those who take in strays and unwanted cats and dogs or any other animal so you can feel good about that. I have a lot of respect for compassionate people who do this. Good for you. Love and hugs
It sounds awful. It's wonderful there are so many people like you on this site that care for the strays.
I like the old saying: "Dogs Have Owners; Cats Have Staff".
It's certainly true in our house. Our dog spends her day being cute and trying to do all she can to please us. The cat spends the whole day bossing us about and having us attend to her every whim. But then as soon as I sit down she jumps on my lap and lies along my chest and purrs in my ear. It's the most blissful feel. Her long fur is like silk to touch.
I hate to think of the day we won't have one of them. They both have personality plus and are a constant source of fun. The cat is 16 and the dog 11 next month.
My husband and I are attending the three concerts, Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Omaha. We are too excited for words to express.

Am attending the package for photo taken with Andre and guaranteed seats in vip section, then have ticket for the only other concert in Sydney- both in October-will meet up with other fans if it can be arranged. Am amazed by Andre ‘s itinery – he wouldn’t get time to practice- I watch the bits on tv when I’m aware they are on. Had a bit of a giggle with his reaction to vegemite.Thanks Margaret P.

Virginia, you are a good person and thanks heaven there are some like us to take care of those poor animals. My cousin in Germany takes in cats that are rescued and nobody wants to adopt them because they are also handicapped because of tortures from bad people. He has now a cat that had to have the front leg amputated and she was 2 months not coming out under the couch in the basement, but now she is in the family and runs up the trees with her 3 legs, an other one he adopted last year with only one eye, I have no idea how he lost one, but he is now a happy camper. He also took 2 kittens in with aids, that was a bad idea, because it killed also one of his cats he already had, the kittens died, they could not be saved. I admire him, the SPCA calls him when they cannot find people to adopt and he always makes room for the poor guys who thank him that for years.

"You'll Never Walk Alone" came today and I am ecstatic! I just love it. Did anyone else receive theirs? I ordered it through Ebay au. The only song I can do without is "Get Me To The Church on Time". My favs are "All I Ask Of You" from Phantom - just gorgeous; "Nearer My God"; "Time To Say Goodbye", "Annie's Song"; "You'll Never Walk Alone"; well I might as well say all of them. I was sooo anxious to get this CD! Hugs
Almost forgot - Friday is coming!! Concert in Wilkes-Barre!! No M&G this time except for the 3 orchestra M&G. I want to say to everyone going to Baltimore tomorrow night - have a wonderful time. Our seats are 1st row, section 3 which is slightly to the left facing the stage. There is a story behind these seats. We are seats 3 and 4 which are pretty good. Andre will come down this aisle and if I try, I can inch over with camera in hand trying to take a photo and maybe get another hi-five, number 4. It may work. This time if Andre throws any photos from the stage, I am not planning on falling again. I really should wear track shoes but they would not go well with my dress : )
The story behind the seats - I contacted PBS in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and I was just checking for the dates the tickets go on sale. The lady emailed me and said you are the first to call so - well you know the story of first come, first served. I wasn't even looking for tickets but we are only 70 miles or so from the venue so I asked her if they would be first row center. She told me on the phone "first row center" so I thought well why not. Two weeks ago my tickets came and they are second row center which are excellent seats but kind of restrictive if you like to race for photos, dance without crawling over several couples and run to the stage at encore time. I guess I was disappointed because what they did was give our seats to some people whom another lady had called and offered the VIP pass to and never offered the same to us. They should have called us because we were in line for the front row center since I was first to call. We could not afford another backstage M&G but that was not the point. We should have been called and given the chance to say yes or no. So my not-shy husband got on the phone and told them the story and I don't know what they did but I think they had some people who were not as particular about their seats and somehow they got us first row. I know it is not center but that is ok as long as I can exit my seat fast if I must. I think it was more the idea of what they did rather than where our seats were in the beginning. PBS in Reading is very strict about first call, first row center and they honor that.
IT IS SAD, THE TICKETS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, SHOULD BE ABLE TO MEET HIM ALSO. THINGS CHANGED A LOT LATELY WITH PBS, AND I AM NOT SURPRISED, I THINK, IT IS WHO DO YOU KNOW?

Hi Everyone! I love to share my Baltimore experience and I will do so as others will also I'm sure. But please forgive me I'll have to write moments later also to see what pics came out. But I can tell you the concert was very nice and upbeat from my opinion. The only Draw back was the venue sound was obviously not Andre's sound system which is much more powerful for concerts. But, we heard him and the music and performers of course you could hear well. They were wonderful, full of life and the audience response from the moment they entered was spontaneous. More to come!

Yes it was wonderful Marlene. I got a video of Andre doing "Marina" and some part videos of some songs and the "party time". I was trying to take photos and videos which my camera does. I also got "My Heart Will Go On". It is not great video but not bad for a camera. I took 274 photos, most were good a few were blurred when I tried to get Andre conducting. He moves too fast for my camera. We must talk with Sony. We didn't know it but the Sony H5 had an issue with the circuit board inside the camera and something drains the batteries even when the camera is off. So that has been my problem since last year and I only found out from a camera repair store. We may just go to the H9 if it is too difficult to repair. The camera gets real slow toward the end of the battery life and you can just see it draining as you use it.
Will work on report and photos tomorrow. I have a sick headache right now and I am trying to rest for a while. I put two of the photos on the latest entry about Wilkes-Barre. You should have heard Andre trying to pronounce that. It was so funny. He had the crowd laughing so hard. Will have that in the report. Hugs to all

Dear Fans & Friends, We have a Sad Message regarding one of our own....
I remember meeting several members of the Andre Rieu Fan club on the little train in Maastricht in July 2007. I was with my Mother, Marian and my Aunt & Uncle Thelma & Alan Kindred. Alan continued to correspond with several members and he & Thelma met up with you all again in Maastricht last year. I am writing this as it is with great sadness that I let you know that Alan died quite suddenly on 07 May he was 71 and his funeral is on Wednesday 20 May.
If you do remember him I'm sure you will know how much he loved Andre and the JSO, he had every CD & DVD and knew all the musicians & singers by name. He had managed to get some of the best tickets for Maastricht this year but none of us feels able to go without him. ( I must try & sell them they cost € 63.00 each )
There are six for Saturday & four for Sunday.
He regulary held "Rieu Nights" at his home and invited friends & family to watch the concerts on DVD. He & Thelma also managed to get to Cologne in January for the New Year concert which they greatly enjoyed..
My Mother, Marian (his sister) was the one who introduced him to the music of Andre Rieu and as you can imagine she is finding it very hard to come to terms with his untimely death.
If you could circulate this to anyone who was with Alan & Thelma last year I would be very grateful, and if they want to extend their sympathy to to his Widow, Thelma they could send messages to me & I will pass them on. Thelma isn't really used to using the computer as Alan did all of that but I know she would take great comfort from hearing from any fellow Andre Rieu Fans.

There was a great feel good story from America on the Australian International News tonight.
They showed a bank employee in Spokane catching newly hatched ducklings as they fell from the roof of the bank trying to join their mother on the ground.(I wonder why she made her nest on the roof?)
He then walked with them all through the main street stopping traffic to walk them safely to the river.
It made such a nice change to all the doom and gloom dominating the rest of the news.
I saw a mother duck and her new ducklings crossing the road here where I live a year or so ago. They caused quite a traffic hold up but it was the cutest sight.
It's good to think a happy story about a nice person can still make the international news. Did anyone else on the blog see it? I hope Andre and the JSO did. I think they'd love it.
Hi Jill,yes I saw that on our ABC news, but really it's old news, it actually happened last year. The story is true but some of the media must not have been paying attention last year.

Anyway, it made our day.
Well Jill, it seems a second happening in the same spot for this year. Last year was in July, this year a duck picked the same spot to lay her eggs. Not sure if it's the same duck or not. It's strange because they usually make their nests at ground level. This little quacker must feel like this is a safe place, even if it is 10 ft. in the air.Lucky for her she has people looking out for her to help catch the babies when they fall. So, it has happened twice now. I just heard this on the news. So you are not as behind times as you thought.
I like them all, but Carla will always be my favorite, for me she has the voice of a century. By the way I meant stage presence, not present. Mirusia I spelled wrong, too, should look closer to their names.

Yes, he is still timid, except to Monster who he chases until she gets tired of him, then turns and hisses at him. After that, she Mother's him, cleaning him while he lays at her feet purring.

He sure does. Does he have a big tail like Joey? Johann has discovered a left-over sand pile from this winter -- he rolls and rolls and comes in all "sparkly."
Timmi doesn't have that big fluffy tail. Timmi's is long and lean, but hard as a rock and he uses it to "pound" the table when he is waiting for his breakfast.
Timmi is such a beautiful kitty. I love his nose and chin, so cute.
Timmi the Timid looks like a real Harlequin, what a unique cat, a real rare beauty.
He is really a sweet cat. Before he does anything he looks at me to get permission. He never wants to do wrong. ....unless it is chase Sister (Monster) too much. That's the one thing he cannot resist.

You know, the flowers look like azaleas. If that is what they are it's so appropriate. In Chinese culture, the azalea is known as "thinking of home bush".

You know, as I look at the picture of the "corn field" where they walk the dogs, it reminds me of the cornfield my dad had.As a young girl I loved to go into the cornfield and hide between one of the rows & read a book or just look at the clouds. I spent many a summer day "hiding" out between the rows of corn. Of course my dad knew I was in there somewhere.
I checked out the Daily Rieu, I so enjoyed looking at André's gardens, they are so beautiful. Amazing that it could be right here in the Pacific Northwest with the Azalea's and the Rhodies, it looks like here exactly! And of course I love the André Tulips, they are so perfect.
I thought it was cute that André showed one, then several, then many.
I guess I'm tired, I wasn't finished with what I was going to say and I sent it anyway.
I also wanted to say how beautiful I think those corn fields are, so green and pretty. The sunrise pictures were wonderful and I love the dogs, of course. They are so cute.
I so much appreciate André sending these pictures. As busy as he is, it seems he always makes time for the fans. I thank him for that.

Sally their is no resemblance to Johann and your cat Timmi, as you cat will Purr, Johann growls like a tiger, as he did to me when he asked me if i had taken enough photo's at eastland a few weeks ago......

I know. I was thinking what the heck is she talking about? Johann doesn't growl. Then it dawned on me. She wasn't talking about Kitty Johann Strauss.
Your Johann is too pretty and sweet to growl. He looks more like a Charmer than a growler.

I notice that Andre will be at the Quest Center in Omaha on Memorial Day. Seems like that concert will start at 5 pm. Isn't that an early start? I was reading some of the restictions at the hall, " No glass bottles, cans, hard plastic containers or other potential projectiles are allowed at any time, this includes sales within the venue. NO CAMERAS, laser pointers, flash lights, etc. shall be allowed at any time. No weapons or fireworks of any description are to be allowed at any time. All large bags, backpack, large jackets will be searched upon entering the building. The use of cell phones will be prohibited inside the inner arena during the show. All flags and banners must have been detached from sticks/poles, etc before entering the building if allowed. No inflatable, i.e. beach balls, hammers and seats etc. to be allowed inside the inner arena at anytime (before, during or after the show").No cameras? flags & banners detached from poles? no inflatables? what about Andre's balloons? Is this the same at all venues? We've always had cameras. I

Shirley, I have never encountered anything like that. No cameras??? I would die without a camera. : ) I don't think Andre would like that. He is much for allowing photos. You know on that beautiful day in Reading when I got to meet Andre, prior to that I got an email from the Rieu organization telling us who would be our guide, that is Kirsten and they said you may only bring a small purse (which I squeezed everything in to) and all people would be searched, no large tote bags, etc. They didn't mention cameras but not one person even looked at what we were carrying let alone searching us. When we went to the small M&G in Wilkes-Barre the same notice was posted outside but no one even looked into my big tote bag. They said "no recording devices" but how many cameras now take movies! So what they say and what they do can be two different things. But I would not take a chance with a large bag at the Quest Center. The camera would be inside my husband's coat. : )

Most of the time that is a standard rule at any venue. HOWEVER>>>>>>> Andre so far has never held to that and allows Cameras.
In San Jose, there were signs on all entrance doors..."No Cameras", but we saw Pierre walking by on the inside and called him over to us.. showed Pierre the signs and within 5 minutes...all signs were removed.
Take your cameras anyway. Take digital non-flash cameras. The very worse that could happen is you have to take it back to your car. Go 1 hour earlier, before the gates open. You never know who you will see walking around..
I just watched Romeo and Juliette by Brocoview, I prefer the music from Tchaikovsky, but what I found so super on this one, for the first time I have seen it with teenagers dancing. It looked so real, not when older ballerinas and dancers do it, after all, Shakespeare wrote that Julia and Romeo were only l4 and l5, it was just super.
Is that on DVD Inge? I've never heard of this version..
I hated the "new" one with Leo DeCaprio. ugh. It was horrid.
No, Sally, it was telecast from the Lincoln center by PBS Plattsburgh, it was super, also the costumes and the stage paintings, Choreography by Peter Martin, a former dancer and appointed Choreographer by Balachin.

Does anybody have a picture from Carla as Olympia doll from top to toe? I am in the process of making her again because I found on Friday in Winchester Ontario porcelain doll kits and one of them could make a cute Carla, so I would like to make her again and take the old one out of my orchestra, but I have thrown the picture of her away that I used in 2OO3 to make that doll. I do not remember how much was fantasy and how much was real, this time I want to make her authentic, haaaaaaaaaa! If anybody has a picture could you put it on the blog or sent it to me????????? Inge, this is the only one I have and she has her leg slightly raised walking toward Andre. It looks like she has white socks and black shoes but it is so close to the end of the photo. I can take one from a DVD if you want me to look for it.

They are expensive & can only be used in this country, I think it was about $15.00 for a sheet of 20 stamps, but since the postage has gone up I'm not sure what they cost now. I assume we could use an Andre photo, I know we can use a personal photo.

Have been a bit pre-occupied of late but have been finding time to keep up with all the great reports from fans attending the US Tour concerts. It is great to see so many new faces posting as well and all contributing to keeping the dream alive.
Today in Australia we have woke-up to the news that "Helmut Lotti" is to tour Australia in September this year. Those that know me will know what sort of a cloud that has put me on. I can not believe that we are going to have both Helmut and Andre/JSO touring here all in the space of one month. Plus we have Simon & Garfunkel back together and touring here as well and Liza Minnelli.
Have to keep pinching myself to make sure I have not died and gone to heaven...Haha.
Helmuts tour is in small venue's (1500 to 3000) people range and one concert per city, so I think it is a real"test the waters" tour. But tickets will go very quickly as Helmut has built up a much larger fan base here than many may think. Many Andre fans are also Helmut fans. Here is the Itinary for Helmut.

Simon & Garfunkel, just listened to their "Concert In The Park" cd the other day. Also one of my favorites. Didn't I read about Helmut getting married recently?
Well, I guess you've got your tickets already? hmmm?
I am so excited I can hardly contain myself.
The tickets aren't on sale yet, and with the small venues I'm terrified I won't get a seat.
It's all going to be too much - Helmut and Andre concerts 3 weeks apart.
However are we going to wait till September/October comes around??
I think Helmut will be amazed at the ticket sales. To be only having one concert in our smaller theatres he must be "testing the water" as Grayeme said.
When we saw Andre last year several people we were talking to asked us if we'd seen Helmut and commented they'd love to see him.
I won't be able to rest till I have a ticket-oh my-just imagine how beautiful the concert will be. It doesn't matter what he sings it sounds marvellous.
Helmut Lotti is fantastic. I really enjoy his voice. I think he chooses a variety of songs and all of them are great!
I hope you all get a chance for tickets.I also enjoy listening to Helmut,no matter what he sings, and from what I've heard he is a very nice & charming guy.Even Pavarotti liked him.I wish he would come to Branson, I think he would be a big hit there too. Let us know about the concerts he has there. I'm thinking he is underestimating his popularity there. we shall see.
I am also a great fan of Helmut Lotti and like everyone else I am worried that I won't get a seat for his concerts. We are lucky in Queensland because he is having a concert in Brisbane and also one on the Gold Coast so hopefully I can get tickets for either.
Well, Susan Boyle did not win the finals, but she won anyway, because she got record contracts in the hundred thousands, that is a win in my eyes. Look at Jennifer Hudson, she was kicked of on American idols and she has had more success than some of the idols.
It was disgusting how the press hunted Susan Boyle, but she made it with her wonderful voice.
I was sorry to hear that she didn't win, but what she did win was the hearts of everyone.We will remember her name more than than the name of the dance team who did win first place. Being #1 is not all it's cracked up to be. I think the media put too much pressure on Susan too, overwhelming her with all the hype. She's a winner no matter what.
I am looking forward to a CD. She has a wonderful voice and I love to listen to her.

So listen to this, my sister got married last week and when the priest announced them in the end he said "Mr. and Mrs. Jake Rieu".... my ear shot up and asked the person next to me if i heard him right? I later found out that it is spelled Rioux. But it is still said Rieu. I though i would share that with you guys, i though tit was very cool. Take care

That is a cute story and it would definitely produce a double-take in an André Rieu fan.
We are thinknig about going to Andre Rieu concert in Salt Lake City, June 25. What we need to know to make up our minds is the program played. Can anyone provide it, or the program for any of the North American concerts which ought to be the same?

No problem. I too like to know ahead of time. I told my brother John to get ready to do that line dance/conga line or whatever you call it when André plays Marina. When André was in Sacramento before, John and his wife had a very fun time dancing to that piece.
