Thirty years of André Rieu and although I was only a part of it the last five years, I say that it's been a most rewarding, uplifting, happy and musical time for me.
What is there about André that has brought out all of this?
I was watching him last night on a dvd, Tuscany, I watched his expressions, I watched the audience and how they absolutely loved every single moment they were there in front of the stage, singing along, they had the conga line going, there were cheers and happy people everywhere! Young and old alike, were having a great time.
This is not an unusual happening; it’s like this wherever André goes. People in America, Australia, Europe, Canada, and more…happy people, loving every minute of André Rieu.
Thank you André for 30 years of beautiful music, happy moments…thank you for sharing your life of music with the world! Because of YOU happiness is as as simple as watching you on stage with your violin and your soul touching beautiful music and the happiness it brings to everyone! Thank you with all my heart.
Now, I'm ready for the next 30 years.

Hearing every sound of Andre's violin was a highlight of the concert. Hearing & Watching the JSO is a treat. I hope everyone who has seen them perform in person can go again, and to those who are looking forward to seeing them, I am excited for you..to know what awaits you!

To think, it all started with a dream & a desire. A dream of someday becoming a famous violinist, a desire to make people happy with his music. He is living proof that if you can dream it, you can do it. He says if you enjoy what you're doing it's not like work, but he has worked at getting where he is. It was his passion, his dream and his perserverance that has led to his success. His advice, never give up.
Like you, Marlene, I was late in hearing about him. I was surprised when a much younger friend had told me she knew about him & had several of his videos. I saw him on TV & thought wow, this is something completely unique & different from any concert of this type I had ever seen. Everyone actually smiled!
It's no wonder that people love his music. It makes them happy. What is better than that?

I was introduced to André a little over 10 years ago by my German friend Karin,
who altho she is now a citizen of the US
and has lived in this country for many years, received videos and tapes from her parents in Germany. So after hearing continuous talk about this violinist and his orchestra and their music, she finally showed me what she had one time when I was over. After that I was a big fan. We were also seeing him on PBS too. So I am a long time fan and don't want to imagine what
the musical world (and the world) would be without him.

I was wanting to know if anyone can tell me the dates of Andre's concerts that have been released on DVD. I realise that there are over 20 DVD's available and understand I'm asking a lot, however my wife and I would very much appreciate being able to watch our DVD's of Andre in chronological order.
Your help would be most appreciated.
Regards
Wayne B.

G'day Bill, many thanks for taking time to reply to my request. I've checked out that flickr site you directed me to and while it does appear to list Andre's DVDs in order I was not able to find out the dates for his concerts. I have managed to get some dates from DVD retail web sites when they are mentioned on the promo but sadly not all have this information.
La vie est belle appears to be the 1st but when it was performed eludes me. I know The Albert Hall was a new years concert but again I don't know if it was late in 1999 or late 2000.
I believe the Gala was in Dec 2002,near the time of his Dublin concert. Flying Dutchman was July 2004, Maastricht (1) was July 2005 and The Schonbrunn was July 2006 while Wonderland was June 2007. They are the ones I know.
So if there is another site that might be of use or if perhaps one of your members knows the dates it would be very helpful indeed.
Regards
Wayne

Wayne, I have the dvds you mention & it shows La vie est Belle dvd as 2000, the cd as 2001. Royal Albert Hall as 2002. the Gala, recorded in
2002, released in2003.It does get confusing because sometimes they are recorded in a certain year but not released til the next. You might look on this site, go to "music and more" to see all the cds & dvds listed. I have , from 1991 the Romantic Moments, 1996, the In Concert, From Holland with Love,1998, The North America I Love. These are the earliest of the JSO that I have. Like I mentioned before, go to the main page on the website & find "music & more, maybe you will find the information you need.

Shirley, thank you very much for offering to help.
Yes it is confusing indeed, I understood the Royal Albert Hall concert took place late in December 1999 because during the performance Andre refers to it as a Millennium concert, so I'm really confused.
Anyway I will check out the music and more section to see what I can find. Thanks again.

ok Wayne. All I can guess is that sometimes the actual concert took place in 1999 but wasn't released until 2000. Just to satisfy my curiosity, are you just trying to put everything in a chronilogical order?
Reply to this
G'day Shirley,
Yes chronological order of performance date, not release date of the DVD.
Thanks Shirley

hahaha, now i really am confused Inge.On the back of my dvd of Romantic Moments it shows 1991, and Albert hall as 2002, now I'm as confused as Wayne! But I will write them down as you have said because you should know better than I.
Reply to this
Shirley, something is wrong on your DVD because in 1991 André was not known at all only in Holland for his 5 person Salon orchestra, Romantic moments was filmed in Mallorca in 1997, I saw it in Germany on TV and bought the Video in 1998, the DVD came out later, mine in 2OO4

Inge, so sorry, you are right. Where in the world did I get 1991? Did I really say that? haha. I know that's not right. I am having a little trouble seeing & spelling right now but that's way over the top! ok, I did look again & it says 2004, footage from 1998, whatever that means. I bought this one from PBS. That was before I found out you could get them much cheaper just about anywhere else.
From Holland with Love: 1995
Vienna I Love: 1996
Romantic Moments:1997
America I Love: 1998
100 years Johann Strauss:1999
The Celebration: 2000
Albert Hall:2002
La vie est Belle:2002
Dreaming:2003 Is this right? Please say yes!

Thanks Bill, but all I was interested in the the first few ones I mentioned. I need to organize.

I am sorry to have caused such a problem however I do very much appreciate the time everyone has taken to help answer my original question.
What I am trying to do is confirm the performance dates of Andre's DVD concerts, not the release date of the DVDs.
The Musicography list Bill kidly added appears to be the release date of the DVDs. I know Silvester In Wien aka New Years Eve in Vienna, was performed at the end of December 2001 before the Gala which was December the following year.
These are the other performance dates I belive to be correct, but please feel free to correct me should I be mistaken.
Live in Dublin Dec 2002
Silverster Punsch Dec 2003
Flying Dutchman July 2004
Songs from My Heart aka Live in Maastricht (1) July 2005
Schonbrunn Vienna July 2006
Wonderland June 2007
Live in Australia Nov 2008
Live in Maastricht (3) July 2009
I am not sure of the dates for the following but I think or hope they may be in performance order from oldest to most recent:
La vie est Belle
Royal Albert Hall (could be Dec 1999)
New York Memories (Live at Radio City)
Live in Vienna
Dancing Throught the Skies
and Live in Maastricht II
As I mentioned I am chasing the performance dates of Andre's DVD concerts and would love to sort out the confusion.
Regards
