Andre Rieu Celebrates Christmas
With His Grandchildren
by Wilma Nanninga
AMSTERDAM - Andre Rieu celebrates first Christmas with his grandchildren. The 60-year-old king was rolling last year for the first, second and third time grandfather. Andre laughs: "Between all the feedings will get dinner. It is a very nice Christmas. "
Andre's son, Mark, was five months ago, became Ivan's father, son Pierre in October became the father of twins,Lieke & Linde. "It's nicer than his father to grandfather, as the pressure becomes too great then you say: 'here are the children, boys", haha. Ivan & his father Marc looks like two peas in a pod, Linde looks like her mother and Lieke is exactly my wife Marjorie. "
The musical grandfather does have to wait until the twins in his arms he could close. "I was on tour in Australia. And I had three weeks remain. When they were born I had a hard day there, I just wanted to go home. But one minutes after the birth I had a picture via the iPhone. And then very quickly even movies. "
Andre has thirty years ago decided never to work with Christmas. "Marjorie and I were under the tree, I had to play at a midnight mass. I did nothing. That was the last time. "
The Maastrichteer is this weekend already as Christmas warmup 'in the Gelredome stadium in Arnhem. Passionately he says: "With four hundred wind instruments, it is a wonderful program with a high content. And André van Duin zingt The Village. He did rather well in the Amsterdam ArenA. People then began to cry all alone when I announced the song. Andre sings so beautifully, I must always contain myself. "
What does the violin virtuoso from the Netherlands plan for 2010?
"Keep your dreams in life, try to do everything. And keep hope for the future. Hope springs eternal. "Andre looks for the coming years are bright. "In my concerts in South Africa were within one hours for five thousand tickets sold, which is a record for an artist there. I find that fun stuff. You also get energy, forever. Australia last year was a great success. My next CD is a Mother. We are going to record in March, which is of course internationally. Songs for my mum. "
