Who am I. . .
My name is Marc Rieu and I was born on November 1, 1978 in one of the most beautiful towns of Maastricht Netherlands ...!
My passion for painting Vincent van Gogh was born in the year 1990. This was in response to a fascinating television documentary, turned in the last year of primary school. I also had one more wish: after high school I would love to study art history at the University

In 1990 I immediately started drawing and painting lessons with a Maastricht artist, who several years I have followed with great enthusiasm. In1998 I started my education "Art and Archeology" in Nijmegen. I concluded this study in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a thesis on two landscape painters from the 19th century, namely Caspar David Friedrich, Johan Christian Dahl.
In the fascinating world of art history I admire many masters, as I have from childhood to a weakness for Caspar David Friedrich (German Romantic), Oscar Claude Monet (French Impressionist), François René Magritte (Flemish Surrealist).
From 'own' country I cherish include the works of Jacob van Ruisdael Isaacsz, Barend Cornelis Koekkoek, Cornis Maurits Escher and Albert Carel Willink.
Future. . .
"Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift - that's why we call it the present!" This statement I find beautiful.
I do not know what the future brings me, I hope very much that I can paint. Furthermore, I hope that I can share what I make with many people.
I would like you to take them in my dream world, in my fantasies ... translated to the screen with both acrylic and oil.

Gosh, how did I miss this one?! These paintings are wonderful. There is something about Marc's paintings that seem to draw me into them.I feel as if I am moving forward, drawn right into the painting itself. Does this make sense?
I will be there in July. Will I come home with a painting? Who knows? Depends on $$$$

These paintings by Marc are beautiful! They are very peaceful and seem to express an inner beauty, a feeling perhaps?
I loved what Marc said about yesterday being history, tomorrow being a mystery and today being a "present". I've heard this before and have always enjoyed what it meant.
