Due to World Cup Final - Concert Sunday 11 July brought forward!

In joint consultation between the Municipality of Maastricht and Rieu Productions it has been decided to bring forward the starting time of the concert on Sunday 11 July to 1 p.m. The terrace packages will also start earlier, at 11.30 a.m.

The original starting time of 9.30 p.m. coincides with the match. Any subsequent celebrations would make it impossible for a normal concert to take place. Public safety would no longer be guaranteed.

It has therefore been decided to hold an afternoon concert to enable as many people as possible to enjoy the concert and also to watch the match in the evening.

11 a.m. Vrijthof open for concert visitors

11.30 a.m. Start of terrace packages

1 p.m. Start of concert

± 4 p.m. End of concert

We wish everybody a wonderful concert and a sporting match!

After the concert the 8,000 chairs will be removed in order for fans to have a place to celebrate should the Netherlands win the World Cup.

Thanks to PJ and Babs for the heads-up on the above information.

There's no doubt Andre thinks of everything. This seems like a good idea to cover all eventualities.

I'll bet a shiney dime Andre will have  the Netherland team ONSTAGE after the FINAL GAME, win or lose----the next evening or whenever Andre's next concert is scheduled & the team has returned to Netherlands.

Don't you know, that would cause absolute bedlam.  I wonder which of the female JSO musicians would jump out of their chairs & go hug the players.

This would be the very first time that Andre just might lose control of a concert

    I reckon you're right Bill.
Wouldn't he (and they) just love it?

Well done Andre' - you'll have the attention of your audience while you and the Johann Strauss Orchestra entertain them, and then everyone will be able to go home and watch The Netherlands "Do their stuff" by winning their match with Schneider and Roben kicking enough goals for your team to win. Best of luck...

Can you imagine when they win, they will paint the whole town orange! Kind of like "THE GATES" in Central Park.

No European team has ever won the World cup when the game is played outside of Europe. The game is going to be played in South Africa....  Both Netherlands & Spain are European teams so it looks like this year history will be made & the jinx broken

Win or lose I believe Andre will have the team apper onstage on 16 July.

The FINAL game will be played on 11 July. Win or lose, I'm sure the team will have plans, celebrations, etc on 12 July.

They will need to return to Netherlands on 13 or 14 July & have more National celebrations.

So, the 16th is probably the earliest date the team would be available.

Assuming Andre is able to get the team to join him onstage, I doubt Andre will even tell the JSO musicians, beforehand.

If the concert includes the Maastricht Anthem, wouldn't that be the perfect time for the team to come onstage with the flag, singing.
