Andre Rieu & The Happiness Club
Music Makes Andre Rieu & The Happiness Club
HAPPY

The Happiness Club, a diverse group of youths ages 6 to 20 who encourage positive values and social change through original hip-hop and pop music and dance, will hit the Kidzapalooza stage at Lollapalooza. The club is catching on, winning the city of Chicago's 2010 Earth Day video contest and performing with classical music composer and violinist Andre Rieu. The club's star status continues with this Lolla performance, and a new song about diet and exercise, featuring rapper Naledge (Kidz in the Hall).

If the youth of today, follow through as adults, there is a hope that earth will survive,it also does'nt surprise me that Andre' is interested,as the saying goes He's Not Just a pretty Face
The Happiness Club is a group of Chicago kids who sing, dance, rap and create original material for their sensational musical show designed to encourage positive values and social change through the arts.
Diverse in age, race, and background, THE HAPPINESS CLUB kids sing out against drugs, gangs, violence and smoking and say “yes” to education, tolerance, high self-esteem and helping the environment.
I think it must be a thrill to perform with Andre Rieu, and he with them.
I believe that music should be an important part of anyone's life, especially our children.
Do you know there places where music is forbidden?, people who do not believe in
an open & tolerant society feel that to maintain a firm upper hand they must forbid music.
What are they afraid of? Something to think about.
Here are some excerpts written by music students .
Music should be in all schools, because some people do not have the freedom
to express themselves. Sometimes all a child needs is to express themselves to
be accepted in this world."
"Music teaches me discipline. Music helps me establish a work ethic. Music
isn't easy. It takes patience, hard work and dedication."
"Music is my way of communicating what it is that my mouth finds too hard to
speak. With every aria I am able to release my inner passions. With every
minuette, I am free to dance into a stupor. With every concerto I am able to let
go of my anger. And with every overture I am able to overcome any and all
obstacles. So when people ask why (she) plays music, she laughs and answers, 'So
I can dream'."
"Music is a necessity to my life, it keeps me pushing to do better, and when
you have to do that with even just one aspect of your life, it forces you to do
the same with every other aspect. Why do I play music? I need to. I have to.
Music is not an option."
I could not think of my life without music. When I first came to Canada I was very homesick, I played the diatonic accordion as a child and when I was bored in Nova Scotia I played for hours. My landlord used to say: "when Inge plays the accordion, she is homesick, I can tell" Of course I played folk songs from home. Today I make my minis with music.
Inge, I did much the same as a kid. When I was young and sad, I would play the piano. Something sad would get the emotions out, something happy would cheer me up.
The Happiness Club. I like that.
music,music in the air
music,music everywhere.
even "heaven & nature sing".
Maybe it's the power of music that these places fear.
I once was reading about the Christmas Eve Truce,
long ago, but still with a message for all time.
In a letter, written by a soldier, to his sister, he writes,
"What if our leaders were to offer well wishes in place of warnings?
Songs in place of slurs. Presents in place of reprisals.
Would not all wars end at once"?
Maybe that's what some leaders fear!
Whatever the case may be, music makes our world a better place.
I'm sure that is what Andre believes too.
Life would be a boring nothingness were it not for music. It's great that these kids know that in their hearts. As long as some can still feel music, then the world will always be a better place.
I could not imagine what life would be like if I couldn't listen to music. It just makes me feel fantastic, and always has.
Goodness. I cannot Imagine life without music. I sing all the time. I am well known amongst all my friends and family for it. My son once said I was like a non stop 24hr Juke Box. My family say I have a song for everything. They only have to mention a word and I know a song about it. Music evokes every emotion Sometimes though a tune makes me sad and I can't listen but on the other hand when I am sad or tired a tune will make me feel on top of the world
I'm on the top of the world
Looking down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love I've found
Ever since you've been around
You're love's put me at the top of the world
Beautiful words but so sad the way that the beautiful Karen Carpenters life was brought to an end
Let the music play on xx
