New dates for the concerts in the UK, Australia and New Zealand will be announced soon.

LONDON - Andre Rieu is carrying a heavy burden.. The emotional musician has still not recovered from the virus infection affecting his equilibrium. "My doctor and I work hard at recovery. They also do all kinds of research to see if the recovery could be faster."
Andre continues:"It's really not wise to force myself now. We plan the tours again. I'll be back." Two tours to Australia and Britain, he has now canceled.
Son Pierre Rieu: "This morning I first went to our financial controller. All fixed costs will continue to be paid. We have 120 people employed. The tickets are purchased, the hotels must be paid. But it can not be otherwise. "
Pierre sits with hands on his head: "Today we have all sat together with the orchestra. We have never had to do this. Dad has never been sick. We can not pull off the shelf a manual to see what you should do in such cases. And you can not say to Andre that he should go back to work. His health comes first. And he still gets unexpected vertigo attacks. "
His son says that Andre would love to work and sometimes really has made efforts: "We already have some recordings for albums and some rehearsed. But it is still the case that the health of Andre is questionable. Last week he was at a butcher shop and he suddenly grabbed a rack or he would have gone to the floor. Something like that cannot happen on a stage, with the pressure of an audience there. The first concert would be tomorrow at the huge O2 stadium in London. Dad phoned saying "I really can not do it, this is so tragic. "
Pierre is now working on the disaster planning. In Britain and Ireland six performances are canceled and for tours in Australia and New Zealand twelve performances need to be rescheduled. In the Netherlands there was already a concert in Heerenveen and two in the Amsterdam ArenA which had to be canceled.
Pierre: "We are insured for the cost of construction and the like. But I do not know for example about the airline tickets and hotels. In the Netherlands they knows us and we can make arrangements. Next year we are using the same amount of rooms and then get a big discount for the now unused nights. I believe we will pay approximately 140 percent. In England, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand I fear that we have to pay everything. The same goes for the airline tickets. "
Meanwhile there will be no money from the concert tickets already sold. Rieu's concerts were almost all sold out. "The money is however, at the ticket offices and is only paid if a concert was actually given," explains Pierre.
Andre's orchestra keeps their spirits up. Pierre: "We have everyone in permanent employment. We can bear the burden. But of course no one is cheering. People are restless. We all suffer along with Andre. "
If he feels better, the violin virtuoso will resume his work in November in Antwerp.

André Rieu has had to cancel because of a persistent viral infection, two international tours with numerous concerts. Rieu Classical companies must cope with this harsh financial losses, it said in media reports. Affected six planned for the fall shows in England and Northern Ireland and twelve in Australia and New Zealand, said Pierre Rieu son in the newspaper "De Telegraaf" .
Ongoing since late August, the viral disease balance organs of the violinist and orchestra conductor would be affected, at 1 October, 61 years old will. "Dad has never been as ill as now," said Pierre Rieu. "He is haunted still by dizziness and not being on stage."
The tours of the Dutch "Waltz King" had been postponed to early next year. The summer concert has been canceled - Open Air in front of Schönbrunn Palace, no new date is known yet. For his concert on 8 February is in the Wiener Stadthalle, however the green light for now. The ticket sales have already begun.

His waltzing concerts were, however, said to be, inter alia by high costs in Australia in big trouble, reported the newspaper "De Volkskrant" more.

Dutch violinist Andre Rieu has cancelled his tour to New Zealand because of a viral infection. He was to perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on October 22 and in Christchurch two days later. The performer said yesterday he was heartbroken at not being able to come to New Zealand for his fans.
Tickets will remain valid for new tour dates to be scheduled as soon as possible, but refunds are available for those who want them.

29-year-old Pierre Andre Rieu speaks about his father. --- He had to cancel three concerts for the first time in his career as he is too sick to work. "In Heerenveen, we had to cancel 10,000 people in the stadium two times 34,000 people including 2500 people who have the last winter due to extreme snow Gelredome had been unable to reach. It's really a disaster. The stadium was already filled with plastic grass mats, which we began building the castle. These mats are quickly removed from. We hope that the grass has survived. This saves the costs. "
Andre Rieu four weeks ago had time for one weeks holiday. The master violinist and conductor was immediately felled. Pierre: "He was sick and looked around the room to turn around. Apparently, the adrenalin kept him on the leg. The doctor noted a viral infection on his balance organs. The drug was and is rest, rest, rest. It's not like my father. He always brimming with energy. And now he is slowly recovering, he is upset by the physical limitations. He wants to work, but he must keep quiet rest so we can tour the UK in September. "
Pierre is well understood the situation: "Andre is fortunately not overwrought. He is on time. Two years ago I toured to Toronto and afterwards had a collapse. Too hard of work, too little sleep. And I would hardly slow down. I was forced to do so and I do now with my father. He must be sensible. ";
Andre Rieu has a viral infection according to his spokeswoman. He is expected to recover quickly.

I must confess my surprise that the concert was cancelled. I would have thought that Pierre, or Jet, or Frank would have assumed the Conducting. I'm sure all alternatives were discussed before coming to the final decision to CANCEL. Yes, I realize NO ONE, can replace Andre, it's just that on this 1 time in 30 year of concerts I would have thought something other than CANCEL would have been a preferred option (just my opinion)

The violinist is faced with a viral infection and feels too ill to Saturday to act in the Thialf Stadium in Heerenveen. The concert will be moved to April 16.
The action will also be shifted at 20.00 am in the Thialf Stadium. Tickets for Saturday will remain valid for the new date. People who are then prevented from Monday through the Internet can get their money back.
The next concert is scheduled for September 4 Rieu in the Amsterdam Arena. The management of the concert violinist has announced that it is not at risk.

We have enjoyed three wonderful concerts with you in Portland, Oregon. You and your orchestra really do give your all,and your fans all can feel this and appreciate it. We are now in the Netherlands. We are at the end of a 8+ week dream trip to Europe. We have called it our 40th Anniversary/"Belated Honeymoon". Your Thialf concert was to be the ending highlight of our trip. Today we drove 500+ km from Heidelberg to once more enjoy your concert. When we arrived at our hotel, we were very sad to hear that the concert was canceled. But, even more concerned that you are able to recuperate quickly from your viral infection. You are a very special person with a special gift. As we said before, we are praying for you.
I have to get a life. This is the first I've heard that Andre has been ill. As much as I wish to think he is beyond all the maladies that affect most of us in the world, I realize that even the healthiest and happiest person can become sick once in a while. I believe that Andre's past record of healthy days over sick days should be in the record books.

Sometimes we have to take some time off and let our bodies recharge,
re-energize and get that "balance" back. It's good that Andre is doing what he must to get his rest and not forcing himself to come back too soon.
I do miss seeing the exciting news of the concerts and the music, but I treasure Andre's health more than any of these things.

Morning all. What I night I have had. I expected a couple of sleepless nights leading up to Wednesday but from excitement not worry concern and disappointment. I have just very reluctantly cancelled my Hotel booking in London. My finger was hovering over the cancel button for ages. What if he changes his mind. What if he is suddenly well enough. My husband & I are newcomers to the delights of Andre & his concerts. My husband will be 60 later this year & when I accidentally saw that he would be at the O2 Arena in London on 22nd September we scrabbled around trying to find tickets & fortunately we did find some (cheap ones). The tickets were to be an early 60th present for hubby. Obviously we are really disappointed that Andre is ill and the concert has been postponed but we both wish him a speedy recovery and very much look forward to the day we can finally see one of his concerts at the 02 Arena. Andre - thank you for the music - "live for the moments that take your breath away" and Andre et al certainly do that. Commiserations to all fans out there who have also had their concerts postponed.

Was also looking forward to see Andre in Cape Town on 26 March 2011 when he was going to do the recording for hir SOUTH AFRICA LIVE DVD, but people, you have to understand that Andre's health is no 1 now!!! I am certain if you do as your medicos tell you and not rush around nilly willy, (as I'm sure you want to), you will recover more quickly.

Dear Andre, so sorry to hear of your illness. Hope you are better soon: I had the same and recovery is good. I had hoped to come and see you but hadn't booked because of the time, but now I will be able to go to a show. I would have loved to have brought my mother to a show last time you were here, before she died, but she had to be satisfied with watching your DVDs. Your lovely character shines from your face and I am so happy to see the pleasure that you bring to your audiences. It is like watching a miracle happen seeing how people respond to the sounds that you and your orchestra make. The music lightens the spirits so much it is like we are floating in the air on the notes: how wonderfully fortuous it is for us to be able to hear your music and how blessed you are to be the one through whom this comes to us, your audience. It makes me sad for the hearing impaired to be unable to hear such beauty.

It is so sad that Andre canceled his tour to Australia. Last year I missed going to Melbourne for his concert and I looked forward to the one this year. I already have the tickets and even I can feel a bit disappointed, a few months will not make a difference to can go and enjoy his magic music!

I've been talking to a friend this morning whose husband had a vestibular nerve problem too. She said it was excruciating and the dizziness unbearable. He was in hospital for weeks, so it's no wonder Andre has had to cancel his tours.
If wishes and prayers can make you well Andre you soon will be.
Right you are Jill. My father had this and he missed 5 months of work. This from a man who never called in sick in my life that I can recall. Yet, he came down with this and was so dizzy, he was in the hospital for a week, and then at home for months. Once he recovered he was good and it never occurred again.
I'm sure Andre will be well soon but for right now I hope he takes it easy and heals. The best thing would be to have him well, all else can wait.

André Rieu has had to cancel because of a persistent viral infection, two international tours with numerous concerts. Rieu Classical companies must cope with this harsh financial losses, it said in media reports. Affected six planned for the fall shows in England and Northern Ireland and twelve in Australia and New Zealand, said Pierre Rieu son in the newspaper "De Telegraaf" .
Ongoing since late August, the viral disease balance organs of the violinist and orchestra conductor would be affected, at 1 October, 61 years old will. "Dad has never been as ill as now," said Pierre Rieu. "He is haunted still by dizziness and not being on stage."
The tours of the Dutch "Waltz King" had been postponed to early next year. The summer concert has been canceled - Open Air in front of Schönbrunn Palace, no new date is known yet. For his concert on 8 February is in the Wiener Stadthalle, however the green light for now. The ticket sales have already begun.
André Rieu and his orchestra in 2006 at the castle Schönbrunn.Die some 120 musicians and other members of his "Johann Strauss Orchestra" will continue to be paid despite the loss of revenue. They add that they already purchased plane tickets and hotel stays for the tour and are not being well reimbursed if at all.
Rieu's company enjoys still has more than enough funds to get through this situation, "said Pierre. His father was touched by offers of help from music lovers, but please refrain from donations. "Papa hopes that people now do not send envelopes with money."
Andre, based in Maastricht, who has traveled from the mid-90's with his orchestra around the world and filled stadiums all over again was, so far as one of the best-paid musicians. His waltzing concerts were, however, said to be, inter alia by high costs in Australia in big trouble, reported the newspaper "De Volkskrant" more.

This is a minor setback. I say minor because Andre will recover and though it may take months, it will happen. (My own father had the same illness. It caused him to miss 5 months of work. Yet once recovered, he never suffered another bout.)
The Rieu Team is working on all the side issues, and while it must be unpleasant and difficult, I have faith in them. They are the best of the best and not only loyal to their boss, but love him as do his fans! I am certain it is a logistical nightmare to plan world wide tours and even worse to un-plan them...but if anyone can do it.. Team Rieu can !
This makes our concert tickets all the more precious and our DVDs a must !
So have faith, keep the good works going and think of how we will show Andre Rieu our appreciation for his music and himself once he is back on his feet (literally) again!
We do hope that Andre is recovering and that soon he will be well and able to work. I am pleased that your father recovered so well, but one need not suffer for so long. There is a website to go to "Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo" and the treatment thereof is the "Epley Manoeuvre" - it shows you on the site how to do it - it only takes 3 minutes each side, but is is a cure for the vertigo suffered as a result of the ear infection. Please tell Andre or Pierre to check it out - he has nothing to lose and hia health to gain.

I would like to thank you for letting us know how your father, Andre', is progressing healthwise. I realise this is not an easy task, particularly when you are very close to your family as you are. However, when we receive an update from you it does allay some of our fears.

I have already posted one message to you but having now realised what the vestibular nerve problem is, I can sympathise as I myself have suffered constantly with vertigo for the last 5 years although never was a problem with this vestibular nerve said to me! It is not known when an attack will come, sometimes not so bad, sometimes immobilising but always suddenly out of the blue. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you, it is bad enough coping with this on our daily routine but with your concert schedule I can imagine it is impossible to continue. I hope you recover soon. Our local (Seattle, USA) concert is probably not going to happen, but I'm keeping my ticket money and my requested days off from work that I have scheduled for this concert, just in case. If Andre is able to be here, then I'll be ready, if not, then I'll accept it and will be looking forward to the next time Andre comes to town.
Right now, I'm catching up on some cd's/dvd's that I haven't purchased yet (there aren't many), but it's my way of saying to Andre that he's very important in my life, his beautiful music touches me like none other and I wish him the best of health soon.
I watched My African Dream last night and it was fantastic. I don't believe I've ever seen Andre so emotional as he was in this dvd. It seemed that everyone was emotional and happy. I know there was a lot of stress in making this "African Dream" concert a reality and then the concert happened and it was a great success.
Everyone, I can't express enough on how much I feel, went into this African concert, just sitting here in my living room watching, feeling the emotion and activities that went into this concert was incredible. I believe with all my heart that after a good rest, Andre will recover completely. He's an incredible man and the world needs him and his music, his character, beliefs and everything that he is.
Andre, if you do indeed read this, then know that how ever long it takes, and when you do return, then I'll be standing in line for a fantastic, music-filled concert!

Unfortunately, I seem to have missed out in receiving the dates for your Australia/New Zealand concerts. Perhaps you would be good enough to let us know when they will occur.
Hoping you are on top of your illness now - please don't rush back too early - that is, please don't commence work until such time you are really and truly 100% fit - it wouldn't be good for you to have a relapse, and it wouldn't be good for us having to wait even longer before we could see you on stage again.
Looking forward to learning the Australian/New Zealand dates - its like suffering withdrawal systems not seeing you and your concert this year.

Please Sally, will you see that Andre gets this message regarding his health. I have tried the guestbook and other sites, but it seems I have been unsuccessful. Your own father had this problem so you know how awful it is. There is a website - "Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo" which few people seem to know about. The treatment is "the Eppley Manoeuvre" which only takes a few minutes to do - is easy, and is demonstrated on the website. I can speak from experience that this simple treatment will cure the vertigo. Andre's doctor will now doubt be treating the infection with antibiotics, but while the vertigo persists, he will not feel any better.
Please get this website to him so that he can be well again.

So sorry to hear that Andre Rieu is sick. I know an amazing Homeopathic remedy for Vertigo - it will fix severe vertigo almost immediately. I use "Cocculus 30c" pillules very successfully for many people with Vertigo. Make an appointment with a Homeopath and let them explain how to fix the problem, or just buy some homeopathic pillules from a dispensary "Cocculus 30c" and try for yourself. So passed new-Years eve with my mum..... and on the TV was your New years eve concert! I LOVED it! I came back to Australia..... then no one knew you... and I told everybody... (after they all heard the tape i took from there with me...)that if you would EVER come to Australia... I would be the 1st to come to your concert.... and to my amazement.... listening one night to the radio show here in Melbourne... the "overnighters... 3AW with keith Mcgowan.... you were there... ready to come! that made me feel so good... proud.... all that to tell you... lot of people count on you... you are the BEST!v please recover... a lot of people all over the world love you and what you represent!BTW.. of course. I went to see you at "Telstra Dome" in Melbourne!!! Couldn't afford a very expensive seat... but still "up there" in the arena... it was fantastic!
